In modern contact facilities, frontline staff not only handle incoming calls, but they also answer patient concerns through email, or even video chat. Medical facilities will want to provide flexible contact methods to their patients. In exchange, however, medical receptionists have to keep watch on all of these contact methods, which can be more complicated than simply answering phone calls as the sole form of contact.

Scheduling Meetings for Patients and Staff

Something else that medical receptionists need to do is coordinate meetings. Not only do they have to schedule appointments for patients, but they also need to plan staff meetings. As the number of patients and employees goes up, planning all of these meetings becomes more difficult.

Getting people to sync up their schedules optimally is not an easy task. It often requires the receptionist to send email messages to all of the people who will be meeting up so that they can determine an optimal time to do so. Repeat this process for every meeting that needs to be coordinated, and it can easily get overwhelming at times.

Working from home has become a more common occurrence in this decade due to the pandemic that reached around the globe not too long ago. For medical receptionists who might work from home, separating work life from home life can be challenging.
